                                                                                   Take on This!

—-So Close We Can Taste It—-

We’ve all had one thing or another in life that we’ve wanted so badly it seems like you can, as the old saying goes, “almost taste it.”

Take me personally, for example.  Without going into too much detail, there was nothing I wanted more than to be a mom.  Mother Nature however, apparently, was not in on the wish.  Long story short, it took five years of heartbreak and disappointment, but I finally got my little dude.

When you were small, I’m sure there was something—a Christmas gift, a family trip—that got your hopes up so much that it felt like you could just reach out a grab it, only to fall short just before your fingertips brush whatever it is.

So close.

Six weeks ago, the three of us had agreed on an August 31st deadline for the petition.

And we could almost taste the success.

We knew that decisions were probably being made very soon as to whether or not to schedule tour gigs for North America.  It was crunch time.  If we missed our opportunity to deliver that which we had worked so hard on—well, it just wasn’t an option.

We knew this was it.  Our last chance.  If we didn’t reach our goal, it would have been in vain.

Because there was no way we were delivering without reaching that magic number—1000.

There was no “almost” for us, no option of failure.  As my father always said, “Almost only counts in horseshoes and handgrenades.”

And so we blasted into the fray of social media and strangers alike with one goal—getting enough signatures to send to Norway.  No one was safe from our onslaughts.

Perfect strangers?  No problem, A-ha is great icebreaker.

Family vacation?  Pssshhh.  Hawaii loves A-ha too, right?

Local restaurants?  State Fairs?  Kid’s music lessons?  Check, check and double check.

We were not going to get so close only to be off by a dozen or so signatures.

The great thing about this petition, other than the fact that we’re trying to get something wonderful for all fans in North America, is that we’ve all met some great people along the way.  It’s amazing how someone can go from stranger to instant friend just by uttering the name “A-ha.”

As the weeks ticked by, we saw the biggest increase in signatures we had ever encountered.  The hundreds flew by, we gave away magazines to our lucky signers and every day we were one step closer to our goal.

A goal we were not about to let slip through our fingers.

A goal—that we achieved with more than three weeks to spare.

Our 1000th signature came on Sunday, August 9th.

Yes, we had pleaded.  Yes, we had begged.  We needed to get it sent out the door to Norway, like, YESTERDAY.

And our friends, families and supporters got our back.

We could not have made the goal without all of you.  Everyone that signed, everyone that shared—you all helped.  And in the end, it’s all for you.  Every late night, all the early mornings, every single time we uttered the phrase, “Hey, do you like A-ha?”

It’s all for you.

The fans here in North America want one more chance to see the boys.

We deserve one last time with them.  To show them that no matter what the rest of the world may think of American A-ha fans—and we can guarantee that we ARE HERE and we ARE LOUD—we want to be able to experience concerts like the rest of the globe.

We love A-ha just as much as any other fanbase from any other country.

So, the petition was shot off to Norway early Monday morning, in hope that it would be seen by people who would use the information to make the right decision.

And now we wait.

  • I’m so proud of you guys. That is so awesome and quite an accomplishment. I really do hope they come to North America and you can see them in concert…

      • I like Chocolate Chip and Peanut Butter… LOL!!! I do know how hard you’ve worked for this, that’s why I didn’t really want to send you anything so I wouldn’t distract you from your ultimate goal… I really hope you guys get your wish…
